Balinese Prayer Box Pendant

I was lucky enough to go to Bali last year- ah how lovely to have “business trips” is such exotic places!

Anyway I picked up an interesting little objet- a Balinese Prayer Box. I think you are supposed to keep prayers inside them, but I suppose that a little photo, lock of hair or some other token of remembrance would also serve- provided it can fit.

I love the antique styling on this piece and the swirls and intricate details of the granulation. Granulation is one of those disciplines that I admire a lot because I know how much hard work it must be to create even the simplest spacer bead.Fortunatley I have a trusted supplier in Bali who I have worked with for sever years and which means that I buy granulated works and incorporate them in my jewellery.
